If you ask me the anti-immigrant “patriots” exhibit a lot of the same traits as Ahmadinejad. They constantly deny facts (i.e. being racist), they confuse reality with fictions that further their cause (i.e. all “illegal” immigrants are violent criminals), and they advocate the terrible treatment of people they do not agree with (i.e. shooting people crossing the border, attacking protesters, and calling for civil war).
My friend Ruth over at Illegal Protest was foaming at the mouth at the fact that Ahmadinejad was allowed to speak at Columbia while her knight in shining armor, Gilchrist, was not. Well Ruth, they asked him the tough questions and put him on the defensive. How often to you get to put a questionable leader on stage and call them out for the questionable things they do? Not very often, so you’ve got to do it while you can. On the other hand you can get a racist xenophobe to speak any day of the week. All you have to do is get a permit and call the Pennsylvania anti-immigrants or any of the other anti-immigrant groups.
Ahmadinejad questions 9/11, Holocaust – At Columbia University – complete story

NEW YORK – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad questioned the official version of the Sept. 11 attacks and defended the right to cast doubt on the Holocaust in a tense appearance Monday at Columbia University, whose president accused the hard-line leader of behaving like “a petty and cruel dictator.”
Ahmadinejad smiled at first but appeared increasingly agitated, decrying the “insults” and “unfriendly treatment.” Columbia President Lee Bollinger and audience members took him to task over Iran’s human-rights record and foreign policy, as well as Ahmadinejad’s statements denying the Holocaust and calling for the disappearance of Israel.
“Mr. President, you exhibit all the signs of a petty and cruel dictator,” Bollinger said, to loud applause.
