Fearing Crime, Japanese Wear the Hiding Place

Fear of crime has motivated Japanese designers to come up with disguises such as a vending machine costumes allowing people to hide from assailants. According to the article crime is actually going down in Japan, but paranoia can do strange things to people.

The difference between Japan and the US is that the Japanese respond by creating strange disguises and outfits. In the United States however, the anti-immigrant protesters speak of violence and hate towards others. Maybe we should import some of those coke machine outfits for the Hispanics so those that speak against them will have a comforting sense that they’re gone. And hey, maybe you’ll get a free soda.
