Demonizing Undocumented Workers – Is It Christian?

It takes about two seconds, with the right search terms, to find a blog or website bashing immigrants without legal status. Here’s one I just ran across that has three things most of these websites seem to have: (1) A mention of Christianity (2) A comparison of illegal immigrants to thiefs, crooks, and pimps and (3) Some false data trying to state all illegal immigrants are violent criminals. Here is a blog called “Illegal Aliens Must Go” that does just that.

With all due respect to the president, I suspect that “pursuing a better life” is the universal excuse used by bank robbers, home burglars, auto thieves, extortionists, drug dealers, forgers, pimps, hard-money loan brokers, dentists, and other criminals to justify taking that to which they are not entitled.

Of course the post started off with a more positive tone:

Growing up in a Christian home, I was taught that it is especially important to be charitable and giving at Thanksgiving and Christmas in honor of the birth, life, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

A little further down the post we get the usual reference to Mexico or Mexicans.

Moreover, some startling facts and figures from the Los Angeles Times and other news outlets should cause any sane person to question the president’s judgment when it comes to criminals from Mexico.

Personally I’m worried about all criminals not just those from Mexico.
One stat mentioned on this site is that “95% of murder warrants issued in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.” I’d love to know where this information came from.

In a joyful tone the post ends with this:

Why not break with tradition this Thanksgiving, President Bush, and enforce the rule of law as you are required to do by the U.S. Constitution? A plan for deporting 38 million turkeys here illegally back to their third world Mexico would be a terrific start.

Doing so would provide the American people with a wonderful reason for being thankful!

So I guess I’m insane because I don’t buy into his hatred or false statements.

  1. Sir,
I am hardpressed not to believe you yet again! I have seen this blog and it is rather disturbing! Again, there is no need to make such odd statements such as what was stated in this blog. A little too hard to handle if you ask me! There is a much more sane way to handle this problem . Making almost extremist demands while quoting christian faith????? This comes across as a little strange to me! To say the very least!
So many people crawl out of the woodwork and claim that they have the solution to the problem in this country. I simply ask this one question, where were they when (Right or Wrong) my group was hosting all of these rallies? Again, like so many others its always safer to try and save the world from behind a computer!
I apologize, but individuals like this tend to aggravate me! Charles, yet again you are most definitely right in your opinion on this site! Thanks again.
