N.J. Senate moves to ban death penalty

I’d like to see the death penalty abolished. I don’t believe anyone has the authority to take another’s life. If a person decides to take someone else’s life they should be put in prison for the remainder of their life, but not put to death.  I believe only God has the authority to decide who lives and who dies.

The state Senate approved a measure to replace the death sentence with life without parole, which would spare the life of a sex offender whose crimes sparked Megan’s Law. The bill has the support of the Democrat-controlled Assembly and the Democratic governor.
