I’m not sure if officials in cities and towns around the country feel pressured to state they are not “sanctuary cities”, but an effort in Taneytown, MD thankfully did not pass.

TANEYTOWN, Md. — Taneytown Mayor Jim McCarron tallied the votes, and amid a cloud of controversy announced that a measure declaring the city is not a “sanctuary city” did not pass .

Republican Councilman Paul Chamberlain Jr. pushed for the non-binding resolution, saying that illegal immigrants were not welcome, as well as another measure passed 14 months ago declaring English the official language.
