‘Hispanic panic’ as Arizona immigration crackdown bites

I believe that these aggressive “illegal” immigrant laws will eventually manifest into the total negativity they embrace. As this article states we need a guest worker program that works. Guest workers have been a part of this country since it became illegal to simply reside here without papers. How anyone believes kicking everyone out will solve our socioeconomic problems is beyond me.

PHOENIX, Arizona (AFP) — One month after Arizona introduced a law cracking down on businesses which employ illegal immigrants, Latino workers are fleeing the state and companies are laying off employees in droves, officials and activists say.

Arizona has become one of the frontlines of the US immigration debate and broke new ground on January 1 with a law that threatens to put of business companies which knowingly hire undocumented workers.

  1. Illegal aliens come to America and expect us to turn our country – its laws, its culture, its system of citizen benefits – on its ear to benefit them. Then they accuse us of being racist, bigoted, and hateful xenophobes for requiring them to follow the law that countless LEGAL immigrants took the time to follow. They refuse to acknowledge how their actions can rightfully be interpreted as insulting. They’re essentially saying, “We don’t give a damn about you, your laws, your country or your culture…gimme, gimme, gimme.”

I’m quite sure that anyone who opposes illegal immigration would have no problem with immigrants of any stripe coming here legally, according to our laws, to make a better life for themselves. But by countless millions invading our country and overwhelming our schools and social systems, criminal justice system, hospitals, degrading our economy, taxing our already fragile infrastructure, crowding our cities and elbowing their way into jobs that are required by law to be given to citizens and legal workers; its just a bit of a problem to those of us who demand that our immigration laws be followed. It’s not racist or bigoted to demand that anyone who wants citizenship show their dedication to their new country by following its laws pertaining to immigration. Breaking those laws as your first action in your “new country” does not sit well with the vast majority of American citizens nor will they ever accept it.

  2. Not all “Hispanics” are panicing, only Hispanic illegal aliens. Probably a few non-Hispanic illegal aliens also, but since 90% of the illegals in Arizona are Hispanic, the story focuses on them.

Salvador Reza is a foreign criminal activist, not an immigrant rights activist. Illegal aliens are not immigrants, they are foreign intruders.

This story is yellow journalism, propaganda that supports racism. Supporting illegal immigration is racist because Latin Americans benefit from illegal immigration at 30 times the rate non-Latin Americans do.

  3. Cry me a river!

Mexico is NOT our friend. They still whine about land they SOLD 150 years ago. They hate the US, and will do anything to exploit it and even damage it. MILLIONS of AMERICAN CITIZENS have had ENOUGH of this disrespectful RACIST behaviour! ENOUGH!!!

So to all the border states:

Either you do a better job watching the gates, or thousands of us will come down there and MAKE you do it. Is that easy to understand?

  4. Wow, looks like someone posted a link to your blog on ALIPAC.

Then they accuse us of being racist, bigoted, and hateful xenophobes for requiring them to follow the law that countless LEGAL immigrants took the time to follow.

    Link please.

I’m quite sure that anyone who opposes illegal immigration would have no problem with immigrants of any stripe coming here legally, according to our laws, to make a better life for themselves

So I guess that’s why the group you’re part of (yes, I recognize your name) believes in a moratorium on all immigration?

I’m not even going to address the rest of your points because you’re relying on countless unfounded assumptions that undocumented immigrants are the ones who are messing up education, health care, the economy, etc. Where is your proof? If you can’t provide any, then ask yourself–“Why do I believe this when all the research goes against me? Is there possibly some irrational part of me that makes me hate these people, not because of what they do, but because of who they are?”

Salvador Reza is a foreign criminal activist, not an immigrant rights activist. Illegal aliens are not immigrants, they are foreign intruders.

Salvador Reza is an American citizen who has been in this country since he was a child. In what way is he a criminal?

You can redefine words all you want. War is peace, right?

This story is yellow journalism, propaganda that supports racism. Supporting illegal immigration is racist because Latin Americans benefit from illegal immigration at 30 times the rate non-Latin Americans do.

How is that racist? You should read the book They Take Our Jobs by Aviva Chomsky. It has a very good theory of why it is that Latin American, especially those from Mexico and Central America, are more likely to immigrate illegally than people from other countries. The theory is that the relationship exists between imperialist nations and their victims, which in our case has mostly been in Latin America. This is why most of the immigrants you see in, say, Britain are coming from India and Africa–and it’s not because of proximity.

Advocating humane policies which would benefit a particular group is not racist when another group isn’t being excluded. With humane immigration reform, migrants of all races and nationalities would be included. We can’t control the fact that people from Africa and Asia come here less often than people from Latin America, but we CAN equalize things by making it easier for them to get here when we reform the legal immigration system.

Mexico is NOT our friend. They still whine about land they SOLD 150 years ago.

They only sold it after we declared war on it and took it, and we bought it for much less than it was worth.

Either you do a better job watching the gates, or thousands of us will come down there and MAKE you do it. Is that easy to understand?

LOL. Good luck finding the thousands.

  5. What does culture have to do with law? I agree that if you’re here illegaly you’re doing something wrong but what does the american culture have to do with it? Legal immigrants bring their culture with them too, will we be making laws to prohibit that? and why don’t we blame immigrants for all the satanic cults as well huh? I understand that immigration is a problem but its not the only problem and it definitely isn’t the biggest problem with our country.

  6. The nasty comments by the nativist anti-immigrants basically speak for themselves. Not only are they hateful, but they have little actual knowledge of American history. Why should they? It certainly wouldn’t back up their hateful ranting and ridiculous claims.

Is that you Ruth? I really doubt that “truthy@aol” is your real email address.

Then they accuse us of being racist, bigoted, and hateful xenophobes for requiring them to follow the law that countless LEGAL immigrants took the time to follow.

I’m sure it’s convenient for your argument to claim that I call all anti-“illegal” immigrant activists racists, but that’s simply not true. Misguided, yes, racist xenophobes – well, some are and some aren’t. The trouble is the ones that are seem to be driving the debate on your side and driving other Americans, through fear, into hating as well. Do a little more reading about our history before you start using it to aid your argument. This country has been involved in far too many terrible things for us to not finally wake up and stop the madness. (Don’t forget we have troops in Iraq.)

  7. Just incase zeezil, who linked to my site from ALIPAC and called me a “libidiot”, is interested in the law zee may want to read about fair use laws. I don’t think posting a whole article from a news source is legal.

    Illegal is illegal?
