Charles Lyonel Gonyo was defeated in the South Dakota Republican primary for Senate. One of his most adamant stances was against “illegal” immigration, but as we’ve seen all too often that just isn’t a platform that’s going to move the voters.

Joel Dykstra cruised to an easy victory in Tuesday’s Republican U.S. Senate primary against Sam Kephart and Charles Lyonel Gonyo.
At news deadline, Dykstra led Kephart and Gonyo with more than 65 percent of the votes cast. Kephart had about 25 percent of the vote and Gonyo about 9.5 percent.
