Loveland ICE raid nets 18 arrests – Denver Post

It seems ICE is targeting cities with nice names this week. Tuesday we had raids in Providence and yesterday it was Loveland. Hopefully they’re not headed for Happy, TX next.

I just posted that McDonald’s was being fined for hiring undocumented workers, but nobody here was. I’ll have to research this more later and write a proper post.

Eighteen men, all illegal immigrants, were arrested this morning at a Loveland concrete plant by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, the agency said today.

The arrests occurred at Colorado Precast Concrete Inc. and was a coordinated effort involving ICE, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office and the air branch of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which provided air support, said ICE spokesman Carl Rusnok.

  1. Yave,

Why did they use air support?

Have you ever tried to catch young healthy kids haulin’ asz thru the bushes???

MUCH, much easier when there’s a dude above you spottin’ their every move.

As to their being armed or not, there’s a lot of gang activity including MS-13 activity in the area. Ya kever know if they’re armed ’till AFTER you catch them. ‘Tis better safe than dead.

Ergo, lots of cops, well armed and with air support… not unlike Donnie’s “shock and awe” term.

You’re obviously not in law enforcement, right?

  2. P.S.

‘Tis inaccurate to call them simply “migrant workers”… they weren’t arrested cuz they move around ( the definition of migrant workers ) “the eighteen men were arrested for being in the United States illegally”… Carl the ICE spokesman even said so.

Again, the issue is not migrancy, the issue is ILLEGALITY. ‘Tis ILLEGAL to migrate across the northern Mexico border without the expressed permission of the US. Got nothin’ at all to do with race, campers, it has to do with GEOGRAPHY…

They CHOSE to enter the US illegally.

DO the crime, do the time ( or pay the fine )

IIRC, one of them was from El Salvador. IIRC again, didn’t he violate Mexican law by crossing the southern Mexican border?

Mexico has similar laws and penalties for folks who illegally enter Mexico. Or is it also “supposedly racist” to point that out as well?

  3. First off – let’s get off the ‘racist’ thing. I don’t use that term lightly and I don’t believe I’ve called you a racist.

Many cite the laws of Mexico even though we’re all in agreement that Mexico has some major issues – so citing the way they do things makes little sense.

Truthfully many of these people come from other countries. I believe the majority in the Postville raid were from Honduras – a very poor country.

I like you pointing out my use of the term ‘migrants’ because that’s exactly why I use it. Why is it illegal to be a migrant? I know we have laws, but a law does not equal justness or justice.

Though it may not have to do with race it does have to do with classism as the more money you have the easier it will be to get permission to cross the border. The reason that people are kept in poverty – even though they’ve an obvious desire to work – is a bigger one which we can hopefully find a solution to. As far as the racism that does exist here, but many are at least smart enough to not oft use it as they can just site the law instead. When they had a rally in Hazleton, PA against illegal immigration a Hispanic reporter showed up to write about it. The audience swarmed on him to “go back home” then began chanting “USA.” He was a legal U.S. citizen.

  4. Air support is used because these departments have bloated budgets to carry out senseless raids against working people.

I suppose you think that MS-13 has gone from terrorizing neighborhood vendors and businesses for money to working at concrete plants.

this is not the Iraq war. If you choose to follow heartless laws you just go in and arrest the people. It doesn’t require helicopters, hand grenades, unmanned drones or nuclear missiles.
