All About This Game Dances Death and Pain at The Unapologetic Mexican.

ANYWHERE THE PEOPLE GATHER to express their voice, their government-be it communist, democratic or otherwise-will be infiltrating and disturbing the cohesion and strength of that voice, ultimately using violence with no hesitancy or remorse. The unsettling juxtaposition of profit, spotlight, and ignored oppressions will always cause this confluence of energy and tumult. This is our modern-day Olympic Games Carnival settling down uneasily into a world where war and class divides are hurting so many.

Continuing the series at Zuky we have Chinese American Experience, Part 4: Paper Sons and Daughters.

Part four of our series looks at some of the ways that Chinese migrants – driven from their homeland by social upheavals, civil war, famine – worked around the Exclusion laws in order to fight for better lives, most famously the system of “paper sons” which actually included some “paper daughters” (though of course US officials made it harder for women to enter; a cornerstone of Exclusion strategy was preventing Chinese women from starting families in the US).

New Rules for Comments to dreamacttexas at Dream Act Texas. Anyone with a blog is aware of those that only wish to pick fights and invoke a reaction from the blog author or others who read it. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out knitting blogs have to deal with this too, but in the world of immigration we deal with some sick minds. I don’t believe anyone here thinks we all have to agree with one anotehr, but we do have to be civil. One can disagree with another without smashing their head into the concrete – either figuratively or literally. Continuing the ‘comments’ theme DAT responds to comments in the article, from the Houston Chronicle, titled Texas Senate Race: Producing a Plan Instead of Complaining.

ICE petty bureaucrat whines, oversteps her authority at Eristic Ragemail.

I guess all the bullying of immigrants has deluded the hapless Myers into thinking that she can push around members of Congress. This stunt by Myers is fat in and of itself, but when you consider that Myers likes to attend office parties where the good folks running ICE participate in racist skits complete with black face and Rastafarian wigs, well it makes the whole thing completely laughable. Daily Kos had a great take on this episode.

Local Mayor´s Dogs are Murdered!! WHAT IS HAPPENING TO AMERICA? ARE WE ALL LOSING OUR CIVIL LIBERTIES? at Immigration Talk With A Mexican American. This is a strange story which will hopefully get serious play. While the cops allege to be intercepting a package of marijuana mailed to the mayor’s home it seems there may have been a setup. Either way no person, nor animal, need to be killed for a small package of marijuana. The reaction to petty crime, regardless of the truth of the allegations, seems to be going well overboard. Personally, I see this as the world we’re heading into now with some championing the ill treatment of others because “it’s the law.”
