Declaration of Interdependence

Declaration of Interdependence – William Durant
Human progress having reached a high level through respect for the liberty and dignity of men, it has become desirable to re-affirm these evident truths:

  • That differences of race, color, and creed are natural, and that diverse groups, institutions, and ideas are stimulating factors in the development of man;
  • That to promote harmony in diversity is a responsible task of religion and statesmanship;
  • That since no individual can express the whole truth, it is essential to treat with understanding and good will those whose views differ from our own;
  • That by the testimony of history intolerance is the door to violence, brutality and dictatorship; and
  • That the realization of human interdependence and solidarity is the best guard of civilization.
  • Therefore, we solemnly resolve, and invite everyone to join in united action.
  • To uphold and promote human fellowship through mutual consideration and respect;
  • To champion human dignity and decency, and to safeguard these without distinction of race, or color, or creed;
  • To strive in concert with others to discourage all animosities arising from these differences, and to unite all groups in the fair play of civilized life.

ROOTED in freedom, bonded in the fellowship of danger, sharing everywhere a common human blood, we declare again that all men are brothers, and that mutual tolerance is the price of liberty.

  1. Thank you for your web site! I see so much hate and bigotry on the Web, it’s refreshing to find a site that has a rational and humanistic viewpoint!

  2. “That since no individual can express the whole truth, it is essential to treat with understanding and good will those whose views differ from our own;”

    You seem to violate this declaration on an hourly basis, Sil, when you denigrate those whose views differ with yours. It ain’t about racist, Hun, it’s about CRIME.

    All the Hispanics I’ve ever met are wonderful, caring, hard-working people, whether they were born herr, in Mexico, Guatemala or wherever.

    It ain’t about Hispanic, it’s about CRIME.

    Do the crime, do the time.

  3. Sounds great to me! But it doesn’t mean that I have to tolerate illegal alien work thieves in my country, just as I don’t have to tolerate burglars in my home.

  4. The undocumented migrant / burglar analogy is a ridiculous and irresponsible one. There’s a huge difference between a person entering this country without permission, or overstaying a visa, and one that breaks into your home. If you truly believe these two are comparable then I’d have to ask that you see a doctor for paranoia.

    If you believe these are the same then I guess you’d say that a person breaking into your house in comparable to a person entering your body through force.

  5. Ask how the Mexicans handle illegal immigration from Honduras. Treat illegals the same exact way Mexico does. Mexico loves the money illegals send to them. It seems to me that the money should be spent in the U.S.

    1. You do realize that asking how the Mexicans deal with immigrants from Honduras makes little sense. Mexicans do not collectively deal with that type of an issue. Obviously it is the government that has a harsh way of dealing with immigrants. It’s like asking how the US government has dealt with Iraq – it’s not the way I would have done it.
